Bakoel Koffie has a very long history that started as far as 1870 in Indonesia and you may want to read some history on their official website.
I’ve only visited two cafe of all four chain owned by Bakoel Koffie; the one in Senopati and this one in Cikini. The one in Senopati have an art gallery and it’s conveniently located in the busy street while this one in Cikini may fooled some first timer to think that the cafe already been there since our grandfather era.
The coffee business was actually started in Hayam Wuruk a very long time ago and they start the “Bakoel Koffie” brand since 2001. I love this place and all of the ornament that bring back the cozy old time Jakarta. The coffee itself are good, and some sweet tooth said they love the cakes but i’m not much a sugar fans. The food was fine, not bad but not that good either.
I come with friends after a movie screening and we were having a conversation until midnight conveniently over there. The waiter are nice and pretty helpful, i might try the bar seat for the next visit if i come alone in need for a coffee boost during the day.
